About our workshops for people bereaved by suicide –

Our workshops provide a supportive and reflective space for participants to process and integrate grief arising from suicide loss using art, therapeutic group activities and relaxation. Lunch and art materials are provided.

You do not need to be an artist to participate in this workshop. All levels of artistic ability are welcome.

All registrants receive a Grief Journeys membership certificate and have access to a closed Facebook group for support before and after the workshop.

Participants are encouraged to bring a support person to the workshop. People on Centrelink benefits are eligible to attend at a lower registration fee.

 

About our professional development workshops –

This CPD workshop provides a theoretical understanding of models of suicide bereavement and develops skills in working experientially with grief, using art activities, group therapy and relaxation. Grief Journeys promotes a strengths-based approach to reduce stigma and isolation with individuals, families and groups experiencing suicide loss.

Learning outcomes:

– Develop knowledge of suicide bereavement models

– Understand unique aspects of suicide loss and grief

– Identify different pathways in suicide bereavement

– Be able to assess pre and post loss functioning

– Facilitate the expression of grief and integration of traumatic experience using art activities.

Pre-reading and art supplies are included. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance, Grief Journeys membership certificate. We also provide Grief Journeys Facilitator Accreditation for participants who go on to co-facilitate a workshop or group with us.

The workshop facilitators are Ione Lewis and Denise Lavell.

Dr Ione Lewis, PhD is a clinical social worker, psychotherapist and artist with over thirty years’ experience in helping individuals and families. Denise Lavell MA Couns, TAE Workplace Assessor & Trainer has a passion for leading groups that support people to grow and heal.
